The Story of Prophet Saleh (AS): His Journey, Miracles, and Lessons
Prophet Saleh (AS) received a divine mission from Allah to preach among the prosperous Thamud tribe which showed arrogance toward righteous paths. The Quran and scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed explain the story of Prophet Saleh (AS) which reveals essential lessons about faith humility and obedience to Allah.
The People of Thamud and Their Transgressions
God destroyed the nation of Ad when its descendants, Thamud, refused to obey His commands. They settled in the geographical area stretching from the Arabian Peninsula to Jordan. According to the Quran, these skilled builders excavated beautiful residences deep into mountains to show evidence of their sophisticated culture. Their substance-based prosperity failed to stop them from pursuing both arrogance and the worship of pagan deities while also ignoring divine instructions.
Allah dispatched Prophet Saleh (AS) to show the way of righteousness because he instructed the nation to serve Allah alone while ending their sinful practices. The people rejected his divine message with hostility instead of accepting it.

The Miraculous She-Camel
Through his story Prophet Saleh (AS) demonstrated one of the greatest miracles when Allah sent him a she-camel as his divine proof to the Thamud people. The community asked for a divine sign that would prove his Prophet status. A she-camel emerged out of a rock according to the Quranic narration.
Saleh who was a brother of the Thamud nation also received divine messages from God. Our teacher declared to his nation 'Worship God because your deities should be only He. Your Lord has delivered you absolute proof. Allah has sent you such a she-camel as a divine sign. The message from Allah specified that people should let the she-camel eat in His territory while avoiding any physical harm toward it because future punishment could bring excruciating consequences. (Surah Al-A'raf 7:73)
The people and their values exchanged drinks with this special camel which supplied them with abundant milk. The leaders of Thamud exhibited arrogant behavior by trying to assassinate the she-camel despite its miraculous nature because they felt that it challenged their dominance.

The Punishment of the People of Thamud
The she-camel died because Prophet Saleh (AS) had warned the people about their disloyalty. The complete annihilation of their nation became unavoidable when they disobeyed Allah who sent his divine judgment upon them. The Quran describes their punishment:
The Shriek took possession of those who had committed wrongdoing and found them dead in their collapsed homes. (Surah Hud 11:67)
The mighty earthquake swept through Thamud along with a terrifying sound explosion that destroyed their population without leaving survivors. Three believers of Prophet Saleh (AS) lived to escape tragedy by leaving Thamud territory to persevere in their worship of Allah.

Lessons from the Story of Prophet Saleh (AS)
The historical account of Prophet Saleh (AS) alongside the community of Thamud contains multiple key lessons.
1. Thamud experienced both prosperity and expert abilities yet their self-important refusal to believe destroyed the entire nation.
2. The divine sign appearing as a she-camel from Allah did not stop the people who rejected it and consequently became victims of destruction.
3. Humility before Allah becomes vital because arrogant refusal to hear prophetic guidance brought about the end of a strong nation.
4. From Preaching with Patience, the prophet Saleh (AS) consistently maintained both patience and perseverance in his mission, although his people refused to change.
Conclusion
The tale of Prophet Saleh (AS) presents enduring guidance regarding human arrogance together with disobedience and demonstrates why Allah’s direction needs spiritual belief. Dr. Israr Ahmed among other scholars underlines the contemporary significance of this story which teaches believers to stay consistent in the right conduct. The destroyed settlements from Thamud continue to exist as evidence of what happens to communities that deny receiving the message of truth.
This tale demonstrates the importance of following Allah's guidance through acts of faith along with humbleness while maintaining complete obedience to Him. Ameen.
